Brisbane Australia | Day 3-4
Continuing my trip in Brisbane...!
Yesterday (day 3 here) was a relaxing day spent at the hotel mostly, and out exploring around too. Not much more to say than that though.
Today was the second day Anson had off the ship. First a late lunch at the Pancake Manor in downtown. One of the places I'd certainly put on my list to go to again. The place was located in an old church. A beautiful old wood and brick interior with high backed pew like booths along the wall. A very old world feel to it.
I promise, that is not a look of disgust on my face! The capuchino was quite tasty. I blame Anson for the face! And a food photo. Our portions, like every portion in Australia, were huge! I had some tasty pancakes with chocolate sauce, ice cream, nuts and bananas. Quite healthy, I assure you. And Anson treating himself to a much more balanced looking meal. :) After we went book shopping. Right down the street was an old book store, the kind with squeaky floorboards and an old book smell.
Anson in his element, the "Metallurgy" section. Book stores like these take me back to our time in Raleigh, NC. We spent a lot of time in those early years of marriage going to old book stores and picking up all sorts good books.
City Botanic Gardens was on our way back to the hotel so we took a leisurely stroll through. Pleasantly surprised how much wildlife we found.
I can't help but sing in my head "...kookaburra sits in the old gum tree...", memories of my childhood and living in Australia for a short while.
Some sculpture right near the free wi-fi hotspot. Free wi-fi was a very hard thing to come by here in Australia.
And I saved the best part of the day for last. Before it got dark we spent some time together in the park taking photos of us both.
