Brisbane Australia | Day 2
Anson and the carrier got in yesterday but sadly he has duty and can't leave the ship. I was however able to visit him instead last night and brought him cheesecake. Today was spent wandering and exploring. I only have a basic phone so most of today was spent honing my navigation skills and just finding where things are by usually getting lost first. Thankfully Brisbane is laid out in a grid of blocks so finding your way with little to no reference I felt was easy enough.
Here is some of my wandering...
To end my day I went to the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) and Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) across the river.
I absolutely love this piece (above) and regret that I didn't photograph its plaque. The first thing you see after entering the art gallery.
"Currently on display, Ressort is a gigantic aluminium snake skeleton that spirals 53 metres (174 feet)..." QAG
And I found a William Waterhouse! I love his work and it was wonderful seeing one in person. I was surprised how loose some of his paint strokes were up close and the noticeable darker outlining strokes. This is "The Magic Wood".
